RECONSTRUCT, REPOSITION, REBUILD
1 Chron. 12-16
Soldiers in David’s Army were called mighty men of valor – men that kept their rank – they were skillful and trained with their spears and shields. The bible says they were equipped for war.
G-d will equip those he calls for service. He places all the means for their training before them. The bible also says that these men were of loyal heart and that all of Israel were of one mind.
When the people of God are praying together and preparing their hearts before G-d we can begin to see a move of God in our midst.
The sad thing is that we are not all keeping rank and there are still holes for the enemy to get into. If we are not in position and operating as one, how can we have each others back.
The fact is, if we are not in our place how can we honor G-d, you know how we honor God, by being obedient, Obedient to His Word, in our ministries, in our lives, obedient to those he has placed over us. That’s how we honor G-d.
David finds out that you need more than just a little excitement and zeal for something to be right with God, you need to know God’s will and the only place to get that is in word and in prayer.
He wanted the Ark of God back from the house of Abinadab, which is where it ended up after the Philistine’s got rid of it and he was excited and he was zealous about this thing, all the leaders where in agreement, the people were excited so they built a new cart, they copied the world, pretty much. A new cart – representing a man-made way, (an easy way), no strain, no bother, but it wasn’t God’s way. So a man lost his life, trying to hold the ark in place, trying to keep it from falling. We can’t hold God in place, we have to get in place. God had given instruction to Moses on how the ark was to be ushered in, by who he ordained to do it “the Levites” on their shoulders using 2 poles that went through 4 holes which represent the four gospel.
We should holding up the word of God, how high in our lives, in our ministries, and in our relationships. Think about it, it’s not only on Sundays that God expects us to be Christians, He expects us to be Christians every day.
God has placed a tremendous responsibility on our shoulders. But we don’t always see ourselves that way, especially if there is a leader, we tend to want to leave the responsibility to the leader, but it’s all our responsibilities to carry our ministries, because we all have a part (we are many members in one body). If only three Levites carried the ark, would it not have been difficult to carry. When we are not in our place in our ministries, than someone else must carry the weight and that leaves places open for the enemy to get in through all types of means (resentments, anger, gossip, etc.).
If we are not in place that means the wall is broken, in the book of Nehemiah we find a situation like that when Nehemiah went to examine the wall that his brother reported was in ruins (broken & burned).
The Jews had been captive, but now allowed to go back and rebuild. But before He went He prayed to the Lord so that He could be released by the King (Emperor). He did not tell the Emperor that he was going to do it, he asked permission to do it, what if the King said no? Do you think he should have gone anyway? (Of course, many times our attitude is, “I listen to God not to man”). But Nehemiah was a man of God and he prayed and asked permission to leave and he was granted permission. There is a reason why God put people over our lives, because if He didn’t then everyone’s in charge and do whatever seems right.
When they started to rebuild the people of God came out family by family and each had their own section of the wall to build. Our obedience to God will affect our family, just like our disobedience will. In the midst, of this oneness was an enemy Sanballat & Tobiah, the servant. Sanballat was angry to see someone seeking the welfare of the children of Israel. He mocked them he was indignant, he laughed at him the bible says.
When we are attempting to build a wall, those that are not in line with what is going on are going to mock us and ridicule us, but we are not to come down. We should not allow the enemy to distract us, disillusion us, or depress us into thinking, that we are being ridiculous by praying, reading the word, talking about God every chance we get or praising Him.
Let’s go back to King David. When he finally got it together by going back to the Word of God for the proper order to bring up the Ark, he appointed singers, musicians, gatekeepers, doorkeepers, than David with the elders and the captains over thousands went to bring up the ark sacrificing, rejoicing, dancing and all the people rejoiced. David’s wife however, despised him in her heart.
So you see when we begin to rejoice and sacrifice before our God those that have bitterness in their hearts can despise this move.
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, who has loved us, and has given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through grace, Encourage your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
